We were impressed off how professional and courteous Tim and Jon were installing our system. They laid down drop clothes to keep our carpets clean. The also cleaned up after themselves. We were also impressed you reduced the radon level from 9.7 to 0.9. Wow.
We were pleasantly surprised that you could book us so quickly. You, Jonathan, and Tim were very punctual and so pleasant. Questions were answered to our satisfaction. All work was done quickly and professionally and was completed ahead of the projected schedule. The job site was left very tidy. It was a pleasure to work with all three of you. Several of our neighbors are getting radon test kits. If any of them require radon mitigation, we will not hesitate to recommend Abodee! We are so glad we called you. Thank you so much
Kurt (the owner) returned my call. His son (Jonathan) came and gave us a bid. He was a few minutes late and apologized. (We don’t care if people are late – we all run late sometimes – we just appreciate the courtesy of acknowledging it, which he did.) We had trouble arranging with another contractor for a second bid (three attempts playing phone tag). Since we liked Jonathan so much, and since they were listed on BOTH of the national agency accreditation pages, we decided to hire them.
Jonathan and Tim arrived early in the morning and got right to work. They were both very professional and were very happy to answer any questions. They covered everything with a drop cloth.
They accommodated a request we made to run the pipe to the outside of the house in a different place than they had originally planned. This meant that they had to run some extra pipe, but not once did they act less than accommodating.
It took most of the day to install the system and then Jonathan set up a continuous radon monitor so that we could be sure the levels were reduced (they guarantee to get below 2.7 pCi/L, but usually get well below that). They cleaned up so well it was almost as if they hadn’t even been here. They also took their shoes off once they picked up the drop cloths! I mentioned that the miniscule pieces that resulted from cutting the pvc pipe might be eaten by the birds, so Tim took extra time to shovel it all up.
They were both so courteous and thanked us for the business. After two days our levels were reduced to 1.5 pCi/L. We decided we might want to try a more powerful fan to see if it would reduce the levels any further. Jonathan was more than happy to accommodate this request and came the next day to put in the larger fan. He left the continuous radon monitor as well. The levels dropped only 3/10 of a percent lower (1.2) and we decided it wasn’t worth the extra noise of the fan (the smaller fan was barely noticeable, but the larger fan was definitely much louder – enough so that we had spoken with Jonathan about the possibility of insulating it to muffle the noise since it might bother the neighbor). Once we decided to switch back to the smaller fan Jonathan came the next day to swap them out. Although I offered to give him a check after the first test (before the larger fan) he wanted to wait until we were completely satisfied. Because of all the fan switching they didn’t get paid until 10 days after installing the system. Jonathan pointed out that our neighbor a couple of doors down also had a mitigation system. In comparison, the system he installed for us looks much better, more sound, more professional, more aesthetically pleasing than our neighbor’s system. Jonathan said that they don’t use “rain gutter” (like our neighbor’s) because over time it tends to vibrate and get noisy. Overall we were very high maintenance clients; Jonathan came to our house several times: 1) the bid, 2) install the system, 3) switch the fan to a larger one, and 4) switch the fan back to the smaller one. We also spoke several times on the phone. He was always very pleasant and extremely professional – and always took off his shoes when he came in the house!
Since we didn’t get any other bids we don’t know if they cost more than other contractors, but they did mention that they had lost a bid that was just down the block from us, so I assume they weren’t the lowest bid. (Their bid was within the range that is posted on many radon information pages.) Jonathan did mention that the contractor (on the bid they lost) installed the system in front of the chimney, rather than behind as he would have done. This testifies to his desire to make sure that the system is as aesthetically pleasing as possible. With that in mind, and in comparison to what our neighbor had installed, we are extremely happy and feel that if Abodee does cost a bit more they are worth it. They guarantee everything for five years and their customer service is stellar. We are always willing to pay extra for good customer service, as long as the work is good. These guys don’t disappoint. Installed sub-slab depressurization system (radon mitigation system) by drilling through concrete floor in the basement and installing piping and fan.
Abodee used a different approach. Rather than doing a suction point from by drilling through the slab, they used the external drain tile. They sealed up the top of this sump pit with an airtight cover and put the radon suction pipe down into a pit. They installed a fan on the outside above the sump pit. They were able to reduce the radon levels from 12 to below 1 without any digging, concrete boring or excavation. We were pleasantly surprised by how well the system worked.
I have used them three times and every time has been excellent.
He showed up when he said he would. He is very to the point and professional.
Abodee did an excellent job installing my radon mitigation system. The workers were professional. They made sure to cover our carpeting while they worked and cleaned up after they were done. The radon levels of our home dropped well below recommended levels after they were done. They provided documentation of the results and the lifetime warranty is fully transferable. They were not my cheapest bid, but they offered much more value than the others. I highly recommend their services!
Kurt & Jonathon Salomon and another employee from Abodee Radon Mitigation arrived on schedule, covered my carpets for their access, drilled a hole thru the concrete floor out of sight behind my furnace and installed a 4-inch pipe up thru the first-floor wall and thru the attic and roof. They also had to install concrete to seal around two sewage ejector pumps and a large valve box on the concrete floor. They also sealed under a basement bathtub drain and toilet drain to prevent further radon leaks through these areas. The radon mitigation fan is installed in the attic and there is a sight tube showing the vacuum level in the pipe behind the furnace. Before sealing around one of the sewage ejector pumps they installed a 4-inch pipe elbow so as to provide a second mitigation system if required. The work took all day and was professionally completed. They temporarily left a recording radon meter to verify the results. I have since used my radon meter to continue to monitor the radon gas in our home. I would highly recommend Abodee Radon Mitigation Company to all persons that require a professionally installed Radon Mitigation System with a 5-year warranty on maintaining the radon levels below 2.7 pCi/L. Installed Radon Mitigation System that reduced my radon level of 38.7 pCi/L to a max, so far, of 2.1 pCi/L with a 5-year warranty not to exceed 2.7 pCi/L
They were on time only took a day and a half time. when they came out to do the bid they were very professional and explained that the job would take that amount of time with the complexity of the job. When they did the installation he was working hard the whole time. and very professional. Abodee came to our home to fix our radon problem. They drilled a hole in the basement floor ran a pipe up to the attic and through the roof to vent it.
Kurt was very accommodating to my urgent need for a system (which was a contractual item on the purchase of my home once the inspection came back with a high positive reading for radon). We had 3 estimates done and he came in below the others. I think the price was very fair for the equipment and services provided, and a couple of days turnaround from estimate to completion of installation. He was always very polite and professional, and he did a phenomenal job! The system is barely noticeable from both inside and out and was cleanly and neatly installed. I would highly recommend Abodee Radon Mitigation to anyone! Kurt installed a radon mitigation system in my basement.
Calls were answered promptly. The process was explained, a price was quoted and we made an appointment scheduled for next day in order to meet a deadline for our house sale. Arrived at the scheduled time, install went well and the job was done satisfactorily. Cleaned up after themselves.
Kurt was amazingly persistent in contacting me. After several failed calls (I blame ATT) we finally connected this morning. Kurt was very informative pointing me to radon.utah.gov, suggesting that I purchase a kit from them and perform the short term test saving nearly $150 if he were to do the test. He also described to me exactly how to get the best possible result from the test (positioning of the test in the room, height, and distance from a window, etc.) Thank you, Kurt, for your honesty and incredible service. If we need a system we are coming to you.
We tested for radon and found our count to be very high. We called the company and they would have come the next day but we couldn’t do that! They came the day after and explained why we had the problem and how they would fix it. They were at our home from 9:00 am to mid afternoon. We were very pleased with the service even though we didn’t know anyone to compare the cost with. They ran a pipe from the ground out through our garage and then vented it outside. Miraculously our radon count went from 20 to .03. They were very accommodating in where to drill and kept us informed from start to finish.
Everything else went well. This was not our installation because we do wet coring. When creating the radon suction hole a company either does a dry coring or a wet coring. The wet coring adds water to the core bit and eliminates concrete dust. ABODEE RADON MITIGATION ONLY DOES WET CORING. Furthermore, I checked this address and it is not one I did.
Drilled single 5-inch hole in the basement and removed 5-10 gallons on earth. Connect 4-inch pipe into draw pit, pipe up furnace wall and turn 90 degrees through floor joists into the garage. Continue up garage wall and enter attic, wire fan, and vent through the roof using a 4-inch roof jack and seal. Sealed pipe penetration points including roof jack. Smoke test installation and any foundation crack seal. Install FR-150 fan and vent per EPA standards. Seal any home penetrations with fire caulking, spray form and trim rings as needed. Install vacuum meter for system performance. Previous radon tests were 12 pCi/L, which was above the 4 pCi/L threshold for health and safety. Several weeks after installation, I retested the same area and had 1.5 and 2.0 pCi/L which is great! Installed one sub-slab radon mitigation system.
I called Kurt on a Tuesday with my requirements–a Radon Mitigation System due to slightly high test results in preparation for a house sale. He was able to schedule me the next day due to an appointment cancelation. My realtor told me to expect to pay $1500 +/- $200 for a system, which jived with research I did on the Internet. Cost came out to be $1570–spot on. Kurt’s son performed the work with another worker. He and his co-worker showed a little late due to traffic in SLC but had called to tell me such, so no problem. They did a thorough analysis of my house to determine the most effective way to plumb the system. They were very contentious of my home (removing shoes, keeping it clean during the install, and cleaning up afterward). Install was very professional and they explained the system’s operation in detail. The process took all day–9:30 AM to 7:30 PM, due to some minor complications, which they handled very well. The all-day install matched my research said it’d take. They had to re-route a gas line, which took some time but was also done professionally. They left two Radon test kits for me to complete after the install (“post-mitigation”). Both came back showing levels equivalent to outside air. They guaranteed in my case, that if levels hadn’t dropped sufficiently, they’d come back out and adjust/augment the system free of charge. If you’re unfortunate enough to have to address elevated Radon in your home, I strongly recommend Adobee.

The install is clean and the radon levels are down to 1.6 average. I feel good knowing my family is safe from radon gas.
I appreciate their workmanship and how well they cleaned up after everything.
I retested after they were done and it was a lot better than last time.
They did an install in our home. Quick easy and done in a day.
I was really impressed when they got done I almost couldn’t tell. Meaning they cleaned up everything and put it all back.
Kurt did an initial evaluation, presented a well-considered solution, gave us options, and updates through this process. He and his son did an amazing job and paid attention to the details. All-around a great experience! Estimate, evaluation, installation of radon fan and all piping. Repair of all areas breached for this work, complete clean-up and touch-up.
